The Forum on Information and Democracy, in co‑organisation with the International Fund for Public Interest Media (IFPIM), will host a High-Level International Conference on Information Integrity and Independent Mediaat the Paris Peace Forum.
High-Level Political Segment – 29 October
The High‑Level Political Segment will bring together heads of state and government, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan (Armenia), Prime Minister Edi Rama (Albania), President John Dramani Mahama (Ghana), President Emmanuel Macron (France), and President Maia Sandu (Moldova), alongside ministers of foreign affairs, European Commission representatives, and ambassadors from key partner countries, to discuss the importance of independent, reliable information for democracy and public life and to highlight international commitments to safeguard electoral integrity and the role of journalism in strengthening democratic resilience.
Panel Discussion – 30 October
The panel session, titled “Information Integrity and Major Global Challenges”, will explore the links between information integrity, climate change, and artificial intelligence. Moderated by Camille Grenier (FID) and Nishant Lalwani (IFPIM), the panel will feature Kim Younes (TV5MONDE), Laurence Tubing (European Climate Foundation), Rebecca MacKinnon (Wikimedia Foundation Policy), Luc Dockendorf (Ambassador for Cybersecurity and Digitalisation, Luxembourg), Shikoh Gitau (Qhala), Melanie Hui (Luminate), and Paula Miraglia (Momentum – Journalism and Tech Task Force).
The discussions will examine the risks posed by climate disinformation and AI to reliable information ecosystems and discuss strategies to support sustainable, public-interest journalism worldwide.
Post-event update: At the close of the conference, 34 states signed the International Declaration on Multilateral Action on Information Integrity and Independent Media, committing to measures that defend pluralistic, independent, and reliable information as a global public good.
